Abstract

Provides specifications for identifying an institution in a securities transaction by means of a FINS number. Serves as the common denominator in communications among users for completion of transactions and exchange of information. Specifies both the configuration of the number and the meaning attached to each portion. Intends that the FINS number be used for all comparisons, deliveries, and similar transactions involving securities-processing organizations.
