Abstract

This document reviews the Environmental Protection Agency's proposed methods and underlying assumptions for assessing bioconcentratable contaminants in petroleum industry effluents. It focuses on the effluent option and its application to NPDES-permitted discharges from oil refineries, petroleum product marketing terminals and oil/gas production platforms. The review also includes a general evaluation of the suitability of the tissue residue option for evaluating oil industry effluents.
