Abstract

This report evaluates two volumetric approaches to leak detection in aboveground storage tanks - precision temperature sensors and mass measurement approaches. A set of controlled experiments on a 117-ft-diameter refinery tank are used to examine the effects of differential pressure on conventional level and temperature measurement systems. Features of a leak detection test needed for high performance are also explored. See companion document Publ 322.
