Scope

This Standard describes the procedure for the preparation of test blocks on site from all types of unshaped refractory materials.
NOTE: The values obtained from test pieces prepared using this method may not correspond with those obtained from test pieces of the same material prepared using test laboratory methods.
Where the physical dimensions of entry to the gunning site will not permit samples to be prepared adjacent to this site, the sample size may be adjusted.
NOTE: There is a growing practice of taking cored samples from cured installed lining. In such cases, the curing and drying requirements of this Standard are applicable.
