Scope

This method describes a procedure used when testing the painting of panels at a nominated spreading rate where the paint is applied by brush. The spreading rate of the paint is calculated from its wet film mass.

The method is suitable only for use with brushing paints known not to contain an appreciable amount of solvent of high volatility.

NOTE: Because of practical difficulties in weighing to the required degree of accuracy, the method should, in general, be used only when the area of the wet film, i.e. the face area of the test panel, is not less than 0.02 m2.
