History
Defines Baseline System for Digital multi-programme television by cable (DVTC) Harmonized transmission standard for cable and satellite - based on MPEG-2 System Layer together with Forward Error Correction (FEC) technique. Compatible with the modulation/channel coding system which is used for digital multi-programme television by satellite (DE/JTC-DVB-6). Further evolution is allowed for advances in technology and is immediately able to begin a reliable service. It is based on QAM modulation scheme, allowing for 16, 32 or 64-QAM constellations and allows for future extension to higher constellations eg. 128 and 256-QAM)
