Abstract

Applicable to gamma-ray spectra collected with hyperpure germanium detectors (HPGe) for use in gamma-ray spectrometry, especially for low-background detectors and measurements. Provides terms used to describe the background and the background spectrum itself. Does not include methods to reduce the background.
