Abstract

Provides an analysis of electromagnetic radiation phenomena that could present a potential hazard to the transportation, handling, or use of electric blasting caps or detonators by commercial or military personnel. Discusses the transfer of electromagnetic energy from a radiation source to the receiving antenna formed by electric blasting cap wires or circuit wiring, techniques for determining whether an electromagnetic radiation hazard is likely to exist, and operating procedures that can be used to minimize the possibility of accidental initiation.
