Abstract

Gives performance requirements and testing methods of surge protective devices connected to telecommunications and signalling networks with nominal system voltages up to 1000 V (r.m.s.) a.c. and 1500 V d.c. SPDs limit surge voltage caused by indirect and direct effects of lightning or other transient overvoltages and contain one or more non-linear components to divert surge currents.
